FCC Path Cancellation

A licensee that permanently discontinues service on a path must notify the Federal Communications Commission of the discontinuance within 10 days.  Permanent discontinuance for PTP and MAS licenses is defined as 365 consecutive days during which a licensee does not operate -- transmitting a test signal does not constitute operation.  Authorization will terminate even if the licensee fails to file a cancellation.  To encourage efficient spectrum reuse, the Federal Communications Commission does not assess a filing fee to cancel a path.

We will file two applications for a PTP path cancellation, one for Call Sign A and one for Call Sign B.  Verify both ends of the path selection to ensure accuracy.  Paths using multiple frequencies may only be listed once, while those using multiple polarizations may appear twice.  Use the Notes section to specify specific handling instructions.

Black & Associates can prepare and file these applications on your behalf.

Checklist

  • Login or Create an account with Black & Associates
  • Select the call signs and paths to be cancelled from the 'Path' list.  The pull-down contains all of your call sign+path combinations sorted by callsign. Entries are identified by
    'CALLSIGN_PATH (location) / CALLSIGN_PATH (location)'
  • We bill by path.  Cancellations will be filed for both endpoints of a PTP path.
  • Please ensure you have selected the desired path number as some licensees have multiple paths between the same locations.  If unsure about the selection, add clarifying details to the request in 'Notes'.
  • All path frequencies and modulation modes will be cancelled on the selected path.  If you instead wish to remove individual frequencies please add a note.
  • Click 'Update Cart'.
  • Review your Cart and check-out.
